Turquoise speaks in a thousand colors, and it's often the stone itself that sets the creative direction. When this piece of Bamboo Mountain turquoise arrived at my studio, it stopped me in my tracks — deep black matrix with brilliant, chunky veins of blue that immediately conjured the far north: the summer breakup of Arctic ice, great chunks partially submerged and melting against a dark, cold ocean. Polar bears drifting among the floes.
That vision became this necklace.
A sterling silver polar bear moves across the ice, rendered in two floating chunks of Bamboo Mountain turquoise below. The lariat-style chain is split — the finest Japanese seed beads meeting a sterling silver chain — with a handmade sterling clasp. Fully adjustable from approximately 10" to 20".
