Bamboo Mountain Turquoise Necklace

Hat Creek runs cold and clear along the edge of rimrock, somewhere between Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta. I stop there often. The water moves fast, constrained by lava rock, dark cedars and willows holding their ground on the banks. It's one of those places that asks you to be still for a moment, because of how fragrant the air is. 

When this Bamboo Mountain turquoise arrived, my mind went to Hat Creek immediately. That bright, clear blue — the exact color of the creek in full light. I knew right away what it wanted to become.

I set the stone in sterling silver and let a cedar tip dangle below it, a nod to the trees that scent the air. The necklace is strung from Miyuki Japanese seed beads and finished with a sterling silver clasp I made by hand. One stone, one place, one piece.
